Becky Lawlor BA, Pg. Dip.
I am a qualified Play Therapist, with experience working with children from 3-14 years old. My background is in Education, where I grew a love for child development and the importance of play. Play became a tool I used to help children overcome difficulties they were facing both inside, and outside of the classroom.
WHAT IS PLAY THERAPY?
Birds fly, Fish swim. Children play! - Gary Landreth
Play Therapy allows children to express their thoughts, feelings and emotions through their primary form of communication - play! In Play Therapy, children use toys to say what they find difficult saying with words. Through this therapeutic play, children can develop problem solving skills, resiliency, self-regulation, and coping skills, which can help alleviate the problems they may be facing outside of the play room.
“Enter into a child’s play, and you will find the place where their minds, hearts and souls meet!” - Virginia Axline.
